Yeah, and also, I think many white people thought racism was mostly gone from America because it was scrubbed so well from the media, and Trump comes in and highlights that there’s still some out there (you know, beyond the cops). This would be especially noticeable to liberals, who constantly hear Trump described as “racist, misogynist, xenophobic”.

But you know what bothers me most about both Trump and the way he is described? He’s a yuge fucking liar. He lies about everything, just confidently proclaims counterfactual stuff all the damn time. This utter disregard for truth is the by far the worst thing about him, I say. How did we let the Right get away with labeling Clinton as the dishonest one? So many people say they voted for Trump (in part) because Clinton was dishonest! And we let it happen with our mantra “racist, misogynist, xenophobic” which was itself perceived as dishonest by some on the Right. Anyway, this bothers me the most because it means Americans don’t care about the truth. We have a culture that doesn’t punish lying, not even in politics. Amazing!
